A Message from our Head of School

Apa kabar! Hello and welcome to Jakarta Intercultural School (JIS), where joyful, rigorous learning takes place every day as we strive to be Best for the World. 

My introduction to JIS came many years ago as an eager student who had just arrived in Indonesia with her family. My passion for the study of neurodiversities and inclusive education took root here with the invaluable service-learning projects that opened my eyes to the needs of others. Even after graduating, I had the privilege of witnessing the school flourish as an alumna, and later, contribute to its consistent mission of academic excellence as a teacher, parent, Elementary School Principal, Deputy Head of School, and now, Head of School.

What draws me back here time and time again? JIS is a unique community. Not only does JIS provide a stellar education, but our motto of being Best for the World reflects a broader, forward-thinking mission of inspiring positive changes and making a difference both in and outside of school. JIS students are encouraged to be critical thinkers while reflecting on their own struggles and achievements. This helps them grow to be balanced, well-rounded individuals and future-ready global citizens.

One of the many joys of being an educator is witnessing the growth of students over time. Our student community has so much talent across all grade levels and campuses. The heart of my work lies in ensuring that students are given the very best opportunities for learning that we can create, that they have access to the resources and experiences that will allow them to excel academically and personally, and that we support each individual's trajectory in their learning journey. From our well-developed curricula to our purpose-built facilities, there is no wonder how JIS students grow to become the leaders of tomorrow. I am genuinely inspired by their inquisitive nature, resilience, resourcefulness, and all they accomplish.

Our teachers and administrators are lifelong learners themselves who aspire to expand their knowledge and skills to consistently engage students in meaningful, fulfilling learning experiences. They come from all over the world to be a part of JIS, to inspire and be inspired by teaching and learning in Indonesia. 

It is with each teacher's valued dedication, as well as the unwavering support of JIS parents, that we can thrive as a forward-looking school and a diverse community of globally minded citizens. Together, we are committed to maintaining a joyful, enriching environment for our students to flourish as unique individuals with boundless potential.
