Elementary School

Single Hero

Elementary School

Elementary school is when students to start to build on their curiosities and love of learning.

These “formative years” often hold a special place in people’s hearts  and they should!

This is an important and fun time in a child's education. It's when they first begin to read on their own, have an understanding of language, learn math concepts, and delve into the wonders of science. It's when they develop their love of learning.

JIS Elementary School students learn to be curious, ask meaningful questions, and engage with the world around them.

Our Curriculum

The JIS Elementary School program (Grades 1-5) builds each child into a competent learner in a caring community. Our inquiry approach to learning is founded on research and best educational practices. It prioritizes the development of the whole child through academic rigor and a focus on social and emotional wellbeing.

Student Experience

  • We maintain a strong home-school community. Parents are an intrinsic element in our students’ education and we look to their support and input in developing this growth.
  • Each child has a tailored learning experience, based on their needs, interests, and talents.

Students and parents get to take part in several events and celebrations throughout the school year. These are some of the most talked about and remembered times of the JIS Elementary School experience.

Annual events and celebrations include:

  • Book Week

  • Uniting Nations Week

  • Indonesia Week

  • Talent Shows

  • Weekly Assemblies

  • Maker Faire

  • PIE and PEL Musicals

Our program supports students during their educational and personal journeys, helping them to discover what they are capable of and identify how they will contribute to a global society. The JIS Elementary School reflects our commitment to an international community where cross-cultural awareness promotes a respect for all individuals.

Student Activities

Every year, a highlight for students is joining sports, music, dance, and art clubs with the school.

Community of Care

We have a commitment to making sure that each student is appropriately supported and cared for. This commitment goes beyond the classroom and looking after students' physical and mental wellbeing. As a school, we share this responsibility within a Community of Care.

We seek to promote within our students a positive outlook for life, and we help our students become balanced and successful citizens, well-equipped with the ability to think critically and logically about the information they access and the decisions they make.

Two Campuses, One School

JIS has two Elementary School campuses: Pattimura Elementary (PEL) and Pondok Indah Elementary (PIE). The program, faculty expertise, and learning experience at both campuses are equal. Curriculum and lesson planning are coordinated between the two campuses at each grade level to ensure every JIS student is challenged academically and supported socially.

The main difference between the two campuses is their location. During the application process you can speak with an Admissions Officer about which campus is right for you. You can virtually tour both campuses below.
