The High School campus of JIS is without a doubt one of the premier learning environments in the world. The magical gardens, bathed in rich tropical colors, and state of the art facilities combine to create a safe, inclusive, and motivating environment that contributes to a lasting sense of belonging and community.

Contemporary Curriculum

The curriculum we offer is expansive and attuned to the needs of 21st-century learners, with rich offerings in technology, business, service learning, and creative arts. As one of the few schools that offer both the International Baccalaureate (IB) and Advanced Placement (AP) programs, we are proud to continue to build upon our ability to deliver outstanding academic results, which are consistently well above world averages in all subject areas.
 
The IB and AP programs are open to all students, who create course schedules based on advice from teachers and personal academic advisors (counselors). 


We also strive to maintain a healthy reputation for enabling all our students to achieve their personal best, for nurturing healthy self-esteem, and for developing within all our students a sense of international and intercultural mindedness and a positive vision for their future.

Community of Care

Our High School has a commitment to each student and as a faculty, we share responsibility within a Community of Care. Our academic approach is rigorous yet contemporary, ensuring each student is supported for success. Our Advisory program seeks to address the real issues and needs for this generation of learners, and the relationships we forge provide a strong platform of support so that every child is nurtured carefully and purposefully. 

We seek to promote within our students a positive outlook for life, and we help our students become balanced and successful citizens, well-equipped with the ability to think critically and logically about the information they access and the decisions they make.


Family Partnership

We regard the partnership established between parents and the school as crucial to the learning success of each student. Through opportunities such as Open House, coffee mornings, grade-level functions, Parent-Student-Teacher Conferences, various parent volunteer groups, and a genuine open-door policy, parents are valued and active members of our High School. We invite all parents to engage with these opportunities so that transitions are smooth and the partnership between the school and the family is nurtured to be the best it can be.

The High School is here to serve the needs of our students and families, especially in the areas of transition, learning, wellness, community involvement, and life beyond JIS. Our work as committed educators is focused on bringing out the best in each student and to ensure that happiness, self-confidence, and growth in character are at the forefront of academic achievement. We look forward to working closely with our students and families to achieve these shared goals.
 

Our Program

JIS offers a full High School (Grades 9-12) program of studies based on the best curriculum models worldwide, which are designed to prepare students for college or university. Our inquiry-based approach is expansive and attuned to the needs of 21st century learners, with the aim of preparing them for life’s possibilities by placing equal emphasis on academics, the creative arts, technology, service learning and sports.

The four-year program is based on the North American model whereby students accumulate “credits” toward graduation and a high school diploma. All courses are taught in English, with the exception of modern language and mother tongue course offerings. Our program:

  • The Grade 9 and 10 curriculum is based on international standards and was designed to prepare students for success in Grades 11 and 12. In Grades 11 and 12 students have the opportunity to focus or “specialize” in areas of passion.
  • In Grades 11 and 12, JIS offers courses in the International Baccalaureate (IB) and Advanced Placement (AP) curriculum; students may earn an IB Diploma, IB certificates, and/or AP certificates.
  • The primary focus of our IB and AP curriculum is to prepare students to be critical thinkers, equipped with the academic skills necessary for rigorous university study.
  • Indonesian government regulations mandate all Indonesian students take language, literature and civics courses, then national exams in Grades 9 and 12.
  • All students are required to complete Creativity, Activity and Service activities throughout High School.
