Air Quality Index Procedures

At JIS, we prioritize the well-being and safety of our students, staff, faculty and the wider community. 

The following is a summary of JIS Academy's protocol for managing community member’s health when participants enage in JIS Academy’s outdoor community sport and activity programs during periods of poor air quality. 

Process:

A dedicated member of JIS’s Safety and Security Control Room team monitors the AQI readings periodically throughout the day. These readings are based on data collected from NAFAS sensors located on the Cilandak, PIE and PEL campuses.

JIS Academy receives periodic alerts indicating the current AQI level from the Safety and Security Control Room according to the time table below. 

  • If the AQI is between 151 and above, all JIS Academy activities and sports that take place outdoors will be modified so that children are not engaged in prolonged or heavy exertion. In addition, coaches might increase the length and/or frequency of breaks.

  • If the AQI is 176 and above, all JIS Academy activities and sports for elementary students will be either moved to an indoor venue (if available) or cancelled.

  • If the AQI is 200 and above, all JIS Academy activities and sports for middle school and high school students will be either moved to an indoor venue (if available) or cancelled.
