What is the Advanced Placement (AP) program?
The Advanced Placement (AP) Program offers students the opportunity to take college-level courses and exams in high school and earn college credit, advanced placement, or both at many colleges and universities in the U.S. and around the world.
Why take AP courses?
Research shows that AP students are better prepared for college, regardless of the exam score. AP courses also allow you to:

Dig deeper into subjects of personal interest: The AP offers a range of courses across disciplines, and the Capstone courses let you decide the content and topics to study. This is your chance to discover new passions!

Build confidence and skills: Get familiar with college-level work, and boost your confidence by tackling it. AP courses will help you develop the skills you need for college and careers, like time management, critical thinking, and scholarly writing.

Stand out to colleges: "AP" on your high school transcript shows colleges you're motivated to challenge yourself by completing college-level work. 85% of selective colleges and universities report that a student's AP experience has a positive impact on admissions decisions.

What is the AP Capstone Program?
The AP Capstone diploma program is based on two yearlong AP courses: AP Seminar and AP Research. Rather than teaching subject-specific content, these courses develop students’ skills in research, analysis, evidence-based arguments, collaboration, writing, and presenting. Students who complete the two-year program can earn one of two different AP Capstone awards, which are valued by colleges across the United States and around the world.
Students can earn the AP Capstone Diploma or the AP Seminar and Research Certificate:

Students who earn scores of 3 or higher in AP Seminar and AP Research and on four other AP exams receive the AP Capstone Diploma.

Students who earn scores of 3 or higher in AP Seminar and AP Research but not on four other exams receive the AP Seminar and Research certificate.
The AP International Diploma
The AP International Diploma (APID) is a globally recognized certificate awarded to students who display exceptional achievement across a variety of disciplines. Available to international students attending secondary schools outside the U.S., the APID certifies outstanding academic excellence with a global perspective.
To earn the International Diploma, students must earn a 3 or higher on at least 5 AP exams across four different content areas, including English, world languages, global perspectives, and math/sciences.
AP with WE Service
AP with WE Service combines college-level learning from the Advanced Placement® Program with WE’s service learning model to create an opportunity for AP students to apply their classroom work to the real world, fitting with the JIS philosophy of "being best for the world".
In the AP with WE Service program, students engage in service learning activities to strengthen their understanding of AP course content and skills, using what they’re learning to tackle real-life social issues.
IB Diploma Programme
International Baccalaureate (IB®) is a two-year pre-university program leading either to the IB Diploma or to separate IB subject certificates, depending on the student's plans for further education. A highly respected academic program, the IB is recognized by colleges and universities in nearly 90 countries across six continents.
IB Career-related Programme
The International Baccalaureate (IB®) Career-Related Programme is designed for students who want to dedicate themselves to career-related learning fostering lifelong, transferable skills in applied ethics, intercultural understanding, critical and creating thinking, effective communication, and personal development.
